During the 69th edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Cité Internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de l’Image organized an exhibition showcasing the vitality and diversity of Francophone comics.
France was the guest of honor at this edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair, which took place from October 11 to 15, 2017. The Cité’s exhibition featured works written in three languages (French, English, and German) by around twenty Francophone authors. The focus was on seven themes:
The revival of genre comics,
Humor and satire,
New heroes for young readers,
Personal stories, inner worlds,
A few steps into reality,
New formats, new media,
When cinema draws from comics.
Within the 300 m² dedicated to the Francophone 9th art in the French Pavilion, visitors could discover three soundtracks created by G4F for three comic panels: Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, Journal by Fabrice Neaud, and L’Ascension du Haut Mal by David B.
These soundtracks were broadcast through sound showers designed by Akoustic Arts. This innovative system directs sound like a laser, allowing it to be heard by individual listeners without the social isolation of wearing headphones.
